.gba, GBA BIOS, optional fan translationPlatformsWindowsLinuxAndroid
A static recompilation of MOTHER 3 built with gbarecomp and recomp-ui. The game's ARM code runs natively on the PC; the ROM, BIOS and any translation patch are still yours to supply.
¶ Requirements
- ROM: MOTHER 3 (Japan), the only retail release. A fan translation is applied on top; an English fan translation such as
mother3_en_v13is applied on top. - BIOS: a GBA BIOS dump. The recompilation does not include one.
- No game data ships with the download, including the launcher art, which is drawn from your own ROM.
¶ Install
- Download the Linux x86_64 archive (1.0.7) and extract it anywhere writable.
- Start the binary. On first launch it asks for the BIOS, the ROM, and optionally a translation patch.
- Pick Play. Later starts go straight to MOTHER 3's own launcher, with Continue and New Game.
¶ What it adds
- True 16:9: fields are drawn from the real map, and battles and cutscenes are widened too, rather than stretched.
- MOTHER 3 launcher: the party walking outside Tazmily, rendered from your ROM, replacing a bare file picker.
- Controller-aware prompts: in-game button hints match Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo or keyboard.
- Mods:
.ips,.bpsand.upspatches dropped intomods/and ticked in the launcher. - Display options: window mode, scaling, screen colour and a Windows-style bezel generated from your ROM.
- Audio: built-in high-quality mixing, applied automatically to the Japanese ROM and supported translations.
- Controls page: keyboard and controller remapping; the left stick always moves.
¶ Known limitations
- The Japanese ROM needs a fan translation for English, and patch quality and speed vary.
- No macOS build.
- Android performance is device-dependent and still being reported on.
- A full playthrough has not been independently verified; the rating is provisional.
