RequiresPerfect Dark (U) (V1.1),

A native port of Perfect Dark made with N64Recomp, N64ModernRuntime and RT64, and released for Windows and Linux in October 2026. The launcher takes your own ROM, and the port adds mouse look, widescreen, field of view, high resolution, frame interpolation and rebindable controls.
¶ Compatibility
- Dumps: Perfect Dark (U) (V1.1), the USA release's second revision, as a big-endian
.z64of 32 MiB with MD5e03b088b6ac9e0080440efed07c1e40f. Upstream supports no other region or revision. - Upstream: Public repository and releases under GPL-3.0. No game data ships; you supply the ROM.
- Builds: Windows and Linux (x86-64). No macOS build. The v0.1.0 Linux release needs glibc 2.35, a Vulkan driver, GTK 3 and FreeType, and brings its own SDL2.
- Status: Version 0.1.0, published 2026-10-23.
¶ Rating
🥈 Silver. Upstream has played one mission, dataDyne Central - Defection, from briefing to end screen with sound and a save that survives a restart, and the enhancements were checked in that mission. It is still a 0.1.0: one mission verified, the Linux build only run on software Vulkan upstream, and long sessions, rumble and speech left unchecked. Provisional.
¶ Notes
- The ROM is stored. Load ROM in the launcher, then Start Game; later launches skip the picker.
- Enhancements are options with an Original value that plays as the console does: high resolution at the window's size with 2x MSAA, interpolation to the display's rate, widescreen 3D and HUD, field of view from 70 to 100 degrees, mouse look and aim, and rebindable keyboard and gamepad input.
- Split screen stays 4:3 in widescreen mode. The mission timer, HUD messages, ammo and radar move out to the window's edges; the crosshair and the gun stay centred.
- Made with AI. Upstream states that almost all of its code, documentation and tests were written by AI agents, directed and play-tested by a person.
- Licence: GPL-3.0 for the port. The Perfect Dark decompilation it links is a submodule under MIT.
