A native port of F-Zero X built on inspectredc's matching decompilation and the libultraship runtime, with the 64DD Expansion Kit included: Course Edit, the DD cups and disk saves. It adds widescreen, frame interpolation, a settings overlay and texture-pack support.
¶ Compatibility
- Dumps: F-Zero X (US rev0),
.z64. Other byte orders have to be converted first. Setup looks forbaserom.us.rev0.z64beside the executable. - Expansion Kit:
baserom.translated.ek.ndd, Zoinkity's English translation adapted to the 64DD disk image by LuigiBlood (about 64.9 MB), orbaserom.jp.ek.nddfor the original Japanese disk. - IPL:
N64DDIPLROM.n64, a 64DD IPL dump of about 4 MB, or64DD_IPL_US_MJR.n64under its own name. - Upstream: Public repository and releases, version 1.1.0, published 2026-08-30.
- Builds: Windows and Linux; there is no macOS asset in 1.1.0.
- Status: Version 1.1.0.
- Licence: MIT for the port, with third-party components under their own licences.
¶ Rating
🥈 Silver. Public releases for Windows and Linux, a setup that validates the ROM, the Expansion Kit disk and the IPL, and the whole Expansion Kit available. There is no macOS build, and a full playthrough has not been independently verified. Provisional.
¶ Notes
- Disk writes are journaled. Course Edit saves go to a sidecar beside the game, and the original
.nddis never modified. - Upgrading rebuilds the asset archive. Keep the ROM and disk where setup put them; an archive made by 1.0.x no longer matches 1.1.0.
